Śrī Yoga-pīṭha Memorial Mandir, Māyāpur (Present-day)

A present-day view of the distinctive spire of the Yoga-pīṭha mandir. Surrounding the shrine are gardens, the holy neem tree (Nīma-vāsa) under which Mahāprabhu took birth in 1486, and memorial shrines dedicated to Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and Śrī Gaura Kiśora dāsa Bābājī.

Historical Context

Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura discovered and established this site between 1888 and 1893 through rigorous analysis of historical documents, local geography, and old maps, confirmed by the ecstatic tears of Śrīla Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī. The current temple structure was built in the 1930s by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura.

Why This Matters

This modern photograph shows the living sacred center that Bhaktivinoda rescued from centuries of shifting river currents and neglect, anchoring modern pilgrimage in authentic historical soil.
